Kailash Mansarovar Tour Attractions

Kailash Mansarovar Yatra is not just a pilgrimage but is the most spiritual journey across some of the holiest and best "set" landscapes in all of the Himalayas. The journey is deeply associated with faith and tradition as well as the journey for a divine experience. Throughout the journey, pilgrims come across numbers of major attractions, making the journey one of a kind.

Mount Kailash – The Sacred Peak

Mount Kailash, at 6,638 meters stands proud in the remote Tibetan plateau. In Tibetan, it is called Gang Rinpoche (Precious Snow Mountain). It occupies huge spiritual significance equal to Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism and Bon. For Hindus, it is the very abode of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati, while for Buddhists, it becomes a representation of Mount Meru, which is the axis of existence. Unlike any peaks up there, Mount Kailash has never been climbed and cannot be climbed; the sacredness is what prevents one even from trying. The pyramid-shaped structure of the mountain, perpetually draped in snow, makes for a beautiful picture and draws pilgrims and tourists who trek far and wide to only have a taste of divine blessings and inner peace.

Lake Mansarovar – The Lake of Purity

At the center of this ethereal journey lies Lake Mansarovar, the world's highest freshwater lake. It pours out purity and divinity and is believed to have been formed by the mind of Lord Brahma. Hindu scriptures claim that the ritual of bathing in Mansarovar washes away all past sins and enlightenment. With the range of grandeur in the Himalayas, this sacred lake is a deep place of meditation. It allows pilgrims to connect once again to their deep spiritual essence.

Kyirong – The Gateway to Tibet

Kyirong is located near the Nepal-Tibet border and is the first stop bringing a visitor into Tibet. It is a valley, one that is shrouded in luscious green and snowcapped on all ends, which is popularly referred to as "The Most Beautiful Valley in Tibet." Unlike most regions of the Tibetan Plateau that boast of being dry and harsh, Kyirong ranges green and has huge pine and spruce forests. Besides, the valley is of diverse ecology with rich vegetation covering the hills, which is a vivid contrast to the hard, high-altitude landscapes inside Tibet.

Kailash Kora

The Kailash Kora is one of the profound spiritual journeys, which offers pilgrims the golden opportunity to walk around the sacred Mount Kailash in deep reverence and devotion. There are two routes for the Kora: the Inner Kora, which is the more difficult route and the Outer Kora, the most common and easier one.

You will undertake the Outer Kora on this pilgrimage. It's a three-day, 52-kilometre journey around the base of Mount Kailash while walking in the footprints of thousands of devotees who seek their spiritual purification and blessings from the divine.

Major Stops along the Outer Kora

Here are some major stops during the Kailash Outer Kora:

Yama Dwara – The Gateway to the Divine

This sacred trek at Yama Dwara, or "the gate of the God of Death," is the start of Mount Kailash Parikrama. This is a point through which every devotee must pass before beginning the spiritual circumambulation of Kailash Parvat. The journey starts with a drive from Darchen, a small town that serves as the gateway for Kailash pilgrims.

Derapuk – The Northern Face of Kailash

From Yama Dwara, trekking 10-12 km will take you to Derapuk, which offers one of the closest and most mesmerizing views of the northern face of Mount Kailash. This holy spot also holds a small monastery that gives simple places to stay for pilgrims, and passing one night here inspires devotees to think in divine presence, with the quiet splendor of the Himalayas surrounding them.

Dolma La Pass – The Steepest Ascent

You will ascend to the highest and most difficult point of the Kora-the Dolma La Pass (5,630 m)-on the second day of your trek. Nomed after Goddess Parvati, known as Kuber Kund Pass, this pass is the most arduous part of the entire pilgrimage. A pilgrim crossing Dolma La symbolizes leaving behind karma of the past and crossing over to spiritual emancipation.

Zuthulpuk – The Last Stretch of the Kora

After descending from Dolma La Pass, the path opens towards Zuthulpuk, which is famous for its monastery and sacred mani stones with prayers printed on them. Situated at the southern side of Mount Kailash, Zuthulpuk is not only one of the principal religious destination spots but also one of the cultural jewels of the Tibetan spiritual tradition. This is the last place on the Kailash Kora, as pilgrims complete their transformative journey here before heading back to Darchen.

This pilgrimage, along with the amazing journey, offers amazing experiences like spiritual awakening, soul-searching, and unification with the divine. This 11-Day Kailash Mansarovar Tour Package offers complete immersion in the landscape of Mount Kailash, which is believed to help cleanse the pilgrim's soul of all impurities, wash everything sinful, and grant peace and enlightenment. So, set out and join in this amazing holy adventure worth cherishing for life.
